noisefield

I implemented the noise function to simulate a field of vectors that push the balls into directions. I've hidden the field and applied random colors and a random fading effect to the rest.

flock

I tried to emulate the flocking behaviour of birds creating several hundred objects (displayed as bars or circles) equipped with the sense of limited vision and the premise to turn wherever the most other birds in sight might be.

This works quite good for the most part but there's always some vigilantes ricocheting off the crowded areas and some completely socially inapt freaks trapped in circles. Emergence even in behaviour, great success!

Still wonder why the whole population is heading westwards right after the start, though. Probably the coriolis force ;)

Today I discovered the elegance of Perlin Noise. This is what my first experiment with it looks like.

Just sit and watch as up to 50 worms will dig their way out of your screen. You can click to cut off their tails but as with real worms: it won't hurt em much.
